The Lockdown Collection (South Africa)

During April 2020, a group of South African cultural workers and advocates,  led by Carl Bates (Chief Executive of Sirdar Group), Lauren Woolf (Founder and Owner, MRS WOOLF) and Kim Berman (Founding Director, Artist Proof Studio. Professor, Visual Arts, University of Johannesburg)  initiated an arts promotion and fundraising initiative, The Lockdown Collection, to help support vulnerable artists throughout South Africa, through the Vulnerable Artists Fund.

Each day, for 21 days of the first national lockdown, a different artist's work was featured and available for sale. The contributors of Art Beyond Quarantine  (Pam Allara, Mark Auslander, Ellen Schattschneider, and David Bunn shared our perspectives on these wonderful and moving works.
